Officers mentioned they were contacted by a man who noticed a automobile in Hanau marked with red-colored fluid

Approximately 50 vehicles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.

Officers report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued liquid.

The liquid had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Law enforcement then located many other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement report initial examinations suggest the liquid was probably blood from a person.

"Currently there is no lead as to its source; authorities are currently not informed of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they commented.

City officials said they were working "to unravel the case" and have asked to the community for information.

A high-ranking political figure commented the incident left him stunned and had to be resolved rapidly.

"This event hits the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right attack half a decade ago," he stated on online, recalling the murder of nine people by a gunman targeting people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
