According to new allegations from a informant, Ghislaine Maxwell, currently serving a 20-year prison term for sex-trafficking crimes, is allegedly readying a commutation application for consideration by the presidential administration.

Special Treatment Claimed at Federal Prison

House Democrats on the judicial oversight panel announced that a source provided information indicating the inmate is preparing the clemency petition. Additionally, they mentioned she has been given preferential conditions at the minimum-security facility in Texas.

Congressman Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the committee, declared in a news release that the facility's chief was “helping” the convict with document preparation and submission to aid her effort for clemency.

Specific details of the “commutation application” are unknown, Raskin added.

Claimed Perks and Special Accommodations

Raskin states that, per the insider, Maxwell has been receiving “customized” meals that are hand-delivered to her cell, and the warden has individually organized private meetings for her and her visitors.

The visits reportedly involve a designated private space for visitors and a variety of food and drinks for her associates.

Maxwell’s visitors were also reportedly permitted to bring computers, which the congressman characterized as an “unprecedented action” given the security risk and potential for unsupervised contact.

Reportedly on one occasion, when communications failed for other inmates, she was given specific instructions about who she should tell her associates to contact and how staff would relay the call to her.

Warden as “Personal Secretary”

The whistleblower further reportedly told House Democrats that when Maxwell wanted to examine and modify papers promptly, she reportedly employed the official as her private aide.

The statement indicates that those writing to her would email documents directly to the supervisor, who would hand them over to the inmate, who would review and edit them and provide them back to the official to scan and provide to the original sender.

Extra Benefits Alleged

Further perks reportedly provided to Maxwell include opportunities to interact with a trainee assistance dog – a benefit not “ordinarily allowed” – as well as private after-hours access to the prison exercise area.

Her legal counsel has not yet replied to a inquiry regarding the insider's allegations.

In a statement, the White House said that it “does not comment” on potential clemency requests.

“As President Trump has stated, granting clemency to Ghislaine Maxwell is not something he has considered,” the representative added.

Recent Background

Recently, reports surfaced that she told friends and family in electronic messages that she was “much happier” at the Texas facility than her previous prison.

This past summer, Maxwell was moved from a low-security prison in Tallahassee, Florida to the less restrictive prison in Texas, where most inmates are incarcerated for financial and non-violent crimes.

This move, which experts described as “unprecedented”, occurred just days after she was interviewed about the Jeffrey Epstein investigation by the deputy attorney general, the official, who also previously served as Donald Trump's private attorney.

That interview came as the administration was facing mounting pressure to disclose additional files related to the ongoing probe and amid intense speculation around Trump's own connections to the disgraced financier and convicted sex offender, who was found deceased in custody in 2019 while awaiting prosecution on sex-trafficking charges.

Lawmaker Reactions

In the news release, the congressman also revealed that he had sent a letter to Trump, demanding answers about the insider's claims, and called on the chief executive to deny Maxwell’s commutation request.

“It would be inappropriate to approve any form of clemency to this convicted and unrepentant sex offender,” the representative stated in the letter. “Your Administration should not be providing her with personal amenities, with canine interaction, with government agents waiting on her every need, or with any preferential handling or institutional privilege at all.”

Raskin requested that the official attend a open legislative session to discuss the revelations and also presented several inquiries to the President.

He inquired whether he had talked about a possible clemency for Maxwell with the official or others, whether he had directed Blanche or anyone else to arrange Maxwell with the move or special conditions in detention, and whether Maxwell, her lawyers, relatives or agents have made any commitments to the President or his legal team.

Raskin has asked for a reply to the questions by the specified date.

Last month, the US supreme court rejected an appeal from the convict on her sex-trafficking conviction.
