I'll dominate 'legitimate boxer' Jake Paul - Joshua
The British boxer prepares to battle the American YouTuber in an eight-round fight which will be shown live on the streaming platform.
British boxer Anthony Joshua said he will "dominate completely" Jake Paul and "defeat" his opponent as the two fighters confronted each other to build hype for next month's boxing match.
Ex twice unified title holder Joshua meets social media star turned fighter Jake Paul - in what is, theoretically, a massive mismatch - at Miami venue on 19 December.
Boxer's Mindset
"I plan to break his face and break his body up. My goal is to show my superiority," the British boxer, 35, stated.
"I will dominate him completely. That's how fighters think.
"I will genuinely try to hurt him. That's my intention."
Civil Exchange
In spite of these statements, a composed Joshua and internet personality Paul - usually famous for his showmanship - shared friendly words and maintained decorum with each other.
Jake Paul rather targeted ex Joshua's opponent Francis Ngannou and labeled him "ridiculous" after Ngannou turned down a bout proposal.
Targeting Fury
Joshua, in the meantime, took aim at UK rival Fury - and rejected a large bet 'Tyson Fury' says he will place on a victory for Paul.
"[Paul] is better than Fury - he showed up," the boxer commented.
"I respect him for that."
Legitimate Fighter
In spite of declaring he will punish Paul, Anthony Joshua chose not to comment unfavorably about his opponent's pugilistic talent.
"Jake is a credible opponent," he said.
Paul's History
Paul - who originally gained popularity on the Disney Channel - has primarily fought MMA fighters or past-their-prime fighters since entering professional boxing.
He lost to Briton Tommy Fury in last year.
Financial Success
Still, the relative newcomer is still one of boxing's largest commercial attractions, frequently receiving massive paydays.
Prediction and Confidence
The 28 year old forecast a KO victory in the fourth or fifth round and claimed he would prevent the highly-expected Joshua–Fury fight, which is reportedly under discussion for 2026.
"The next fight will be my match with Fury next year," Paul stated.
Size Disparity
As both boxers participated in the customary stare-down, with their size difference evident, it drove home just how unlikely this whole event is - and how amazing it is that the bout is truly proceeding.
