19 of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his maiden championship for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a difficult year, winning just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in especial - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with long-time trainer his previous coach.

Now working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court from March of the previous year.

The win also signifies he has secured 21 titles at twenty-one different events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my two daughters at once, so to win a title is really nice," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six title deciders, including in that event in the past months.

The player's retrieving approach and recurring reactions on the playing surface had led observers to question if his skill to perform at the top level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and compete positively, backed up by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, securing four of the final five games to go ahead.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the second set before the challenger, striving for his maiden professional championship, seized the initiative to force a decider.

He rescued 4 early chances in a close final set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev clinched the title with a point at the net area, with his opponent unable to control a return after a lengthy match.
