Vinted Members Voice Frustration Over Sizing Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The popular resale platform has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Digital Channels Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers are posting online saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification versus the original listing because of the remapping.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with similar services.
The platform has recommended to check their listings and update the measurements by hand when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Changes
Previously, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
A different member, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Service Background
The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.
It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: last year, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
